12V Source

12V Source

Postby Billygoatgruff » Mon Feb 08, 2010 11:53 am

What is everyone using as a 12v source and ground for gauges? I have been using my windows 12v source in the console and a ground screwed into the body under the console but want to find a better/closer wire to tap into near the dash. Pics are always helpful

Could you use the connection for the smoker's package? I haven't looked, but there's supposed to be a pigtail under the radio somewhere.

Adam hardwired Joel's V1, maybe he'll chime in with where he wired it to.

I wouldn't mind tapping into that one. Just have to find it, one, and know what color wire is the hot, two.

Hey guys,

I think the fuse I tapped into for the V1 was actually a 5V but I might be wrong on that as it's been quite some time since I did it. Anyway, it was basically just an accessory fuse in the panel under the steering wheel. I don't remember exactly which one it was but I found a picture on LS1gto somewhere to help me. I think it is also listed in then manual that came with the car.

I used this to help me find the right wires to tap into. Works just fine

Now I'm starting to do the wiring under the hood. So far I have been able to ground onto the fire wall and went into the PCM on wire 19 (orange) for the 12v. Not working just yet, but need to recheck the connection on the 12v.
